Forehead wrinkles are laterally and vertically extending wrinkles of the forehead, caused by facial expressions such as anger, worry and concentration (mimic wrinkles). They are considered dynamic wrinkles.
Forehead wrinkles are almost always horizontally across the forehead resulting from the raising of the eyebrows. Seen often when surprised, astonished or when looking over reading glasses. This type of wrinkle is often found in younger people, which lends to appearance that does not correspond to their actual age. Colloquially, these wrinkles are also called thinking wrinkles. A large, flat muscle called the frontalis muscle is responsible for forehead wrinkles. Therefore a flattening treatment is carried out, where injection points are chosen along the wrinkles in the middle of the forehead. One winkle treatment option is botulinum toxin (Botox®).

Frown lines are the vertical lines between the eyebrows, also known as glabellar wrinkles. Glabella is referred to as the hairless area of skin between the eyebrows, including the elevation of the frontal bone above the nasal root. For the most part these vertical frown lines between the eyebrows indicate negative emotions such as anger, worry or anxiety. The wrinkles are formed by repeated use of the muscles in activities such as concentration or visual performance, in which the body subconsciously and naturally draws the eyebrows together to protect the eye. Over time, the wrinkles dig into the facial skin and also appear in non-tensed muscles.
Frown lines make the face look serious and stern. The wrinkle injections with hyaluronic acid gel or therapy with botulinum toxin are possible wrinkle treatments of frown lines.
